I Think I Have a Problem

Thanks to the website Pinterest, I have successfully wasted pretty much all of my time over the weekend. It makes you feel really creative without ever actually having to do anything. Sneaky, I know.

But the good thing about it is that you can find new fitness stuff and inspiration on there in all different forms. For example, there are daily fitness goals and ideas for each day of the week.

Pretty cool right?  Maybe these dailies will remind me and put the spark back in my workouts ( since it is long gone for some reason).

I think I can use all the help I can get at this point.

To Eat or Not to Eat

I found this picture on a incredibly entertaining site earlier today and I wanted to share it with you since it pretty much sums up how I have been feeling lately.

I found this on the site called Pinterest, a very cool site that has pictures and inspiration for EVERYTHING. It is addicting and I think I have spent way too much time there already today.

As you have noticed, I haven’t been posting in awhile and half of that has to do with the volume of work that I have with my job these days (and stress too) and the other half has to do with the fact that I am just not motivated. Not motivated to eat the healthy things all the time that I used to, and even to work out really. I have been dreading my workouts – besides Zumba which I love and is always fun. But other than that it’s just kinda bleh over here.

I thought that losing the weight was the hard part – not true my friends, not true. Maintaining and finding that balance is horrible and I’m not sure how to deal with it. I guess that’s why I haven’t posted much, because I’m trying to come to grips with it myself.

There were many times when I opened my Windows Live Writer to write a post and just sat there and stared at the blank screen. What do I have to write about really? I wasn’t even following my own advice so how was I gonna sit here and tell all you about being healthy. Hopefully I will find the balance soon, but in the meantime I thought that talking it out on here might help someone else.

Where have you been val?

This is a good question. Really I have been here but honestly, it has been a heck of a week. Between work and life, it has been happy, stressful, fun and everything in between. I have been eating horribly for this past week and barely fit in a workout. Therefore, I wasn’t motivated to post because I didn’t feel like I had much to post about, except for how much ice cream I was shoving in my mouth.

I’m not going to dwell on the stressful parts of the week and my bad behavior because who really wants to read about that right? All I am going to say is that sometimes we fall down and we just have to get back on the horse. That is where I am starting this week- a fresh week and a fresh month to get my stuff back together.

Now for the fun stuff.

I went home this past weekend for my niece’s birthday and it was awesome to be home spending time with family. I was also super busy making cakes and cupcakes which kept me distracted.

First there was the birthday cake for my lovely niece Sydney, who turned 11 yesterday. She was having a beach themed party so naturally I made a cake that would fit right in with the theme. Behold the ice cream cake!

And then there were the cupcakes. As some of you know, my niece is an amazing Softball player (ahem, she gets that from her Auntie Val) so they were having an end of the all-star season party and my sister asked if I could make some cupcakes for all the girls and their families. Yes of course! Ask and you shall receive!

I made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla (green) frosting to represent the grass, with homemade yellow softballs made out of fondant. I also made some vanilla cupcakes with fudgy frosting (see the recipe here), a purple fondant star and gold sugar. I hope they liked them!

I also made a giant cupcake for my nephew for his birthday, but like a dum-dum I didn’t take pictures of that – but it’s safe to say that he thoroughly enjoyed it. Smile 

SO that is what I have been up to, and I promise that I will be more diligent about things this week. We have our teacher workshop on Wednesday and Thursday so things might be a little crazy still, but I will keep up with my posts, workouts and “normal” eating. And by normal I mean no more pints of ice cream in 1 sitting and boxes of vanilla wafers as a late night snack. This is my vow to you all.
